Introduction to the Division

Our Technology Advisory Division sits right at the heart of our Audit & Tax practice and is essential to meeting our clients' evolving requirements. The division comprises of IT Assurance, Data Analytics and Advisory teams providing services to support audit and tax engagements as well as direct services to clients. 

Our IT Assurance team primarily provides assurance services to clients in the Firm’s audit divisions.  The majority of projects undertaken relate to assurance projects relating to controls testing, data security and privacy and due diligence.

The data analytics team provides audit and advisory analytics services, working with client data to ensure completeness, run standard tests and assist in the development of custom analytics to support audit and advisory engagements.

The team is growing quickly and also provides general IT consultancy services. There are opportunities for individuals to work on a broad range of projects including Advanced Data Analytics, IT Internal Audit, IT Governance, Data Protection, Cyber Security, Solution sales and developing bespoke solutions for client innovation projects.

Responsibilities
  • To become recognised as an IT Assurance expert among our clients and the wider sectors we serve; 
  • Take responsibility for managing the planning, on-site fieldwork and completion of IT assurance work across the firm’s external and internal audit clients; 
  • Managing and supporting the more junior members of the IT Assurance team; 
  • Help the IT Assurance team to become a recognised centre of excellence; and be passionate about an IT Assurance career within practice. 
  • Efficiently managing your own time and allocating and managing staff to ensure clients are properly serviced and IT Assurance work is completed to a high quality and in a timely manner; 
  • Ensuring IT Assurance work complies with the firm’s audit methodologies; 
  • Managing all stages of IT Assurance assignments and keeping the IT Assurance Managers, Directors and relevant Partners appraised of progress and findings; 
  • Identifying and understanding key IT risks and controls relevant to clients based on experience and knowledge of best practice and any regulatory requirements; 
  • Being able to recommend appropriate solutions to risk and control issues identified in IT Assurance work and communicate and agree these with clients effectively; 
  • Working effectively with external audit and internal audit teams to ensure that IT Assurance work is completed in accordance with their needs and timelines; 
  • Producing and finalising scopes, working papers and reports that are suitable for review by the IT Assurance Manager, Director and relevant Partners; 
  • Managing IT Assurance staff, providing on the job training and reviewing their work; and  
  • Managing and ensuring that IT Assurance work is completed in accordance with client budgets. 

Types of Work 
The IT Assurance team undertakes a range of assignments which the post holder would be involved in and is expected to have experience of. These are outlined below: 

  • IT governance & strategy 
  • IT general controls 
  • IT change and project management 
  • IT infrastructure 
  • Data quality and management information 
  • ETL controls 
  • Business continuity / disaster recovery 
  • Compliance with GDPR 
  • IT controls of service organisations  
Person Specification
  • Educated to degree level; 
  • CISA qualified (or working towards the qualification); 
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of previous experience in a senior IT audit/fieldwork in-charge role; 
  • Some knowledge and experience of working with clients in the sectors we serve, including Financial Services; 
  • Technically capable with an understanding of a broad range of IT technologies; 
  • Experience of client relationship management and proven communication skills including ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders; 
  • Strong report writing skills; 
  • Proven managerial capabilities; 
  • Ability to identify problems and put forward workable solutions; and 
  • Strong knowledge of best practice IT control frameworks.
