Tax
The division provides VAT, Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing, Personal Tax, Global Mobility and Employment Tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients and prides itself on the quality of service, high degree of professionalism and personal approach that is offered to each and every client.
The division has a growing number of Corporate Clients, with the team regularly involved in a number of transactional pieces of advisory work, across a variety of sectors and covering a variety of taxation issues. These can impact both the company and individuals, for example, demergers, restructuring, acquisitions and disposals.

Purpose and aim of the role
The role requires an ambitious, capable and experienced manager who operates with a degree of autonomy and technical confidence to join the growing Corporate Tax [CT] Team.
The successful candidate will support Senior Managers, Directors and Partners in delivering high-quality tax compliance and ad-hoc advisory services to clients, while also assisting in the development and supervision of more junior team members.
The role holder may bring specialist skills but will primarily be responsible for assisting with the management of a condensed portfolio of clients in a variety of sectors in conjunction with more senior members of the team. The successful candidate should have experience reviewing straightforward corporation tax returns electronically with minimal input from senior members of the team, and the ability to recognise when further guidance or escalation is required.

Client Responsibilities
The Corporate Tax team works with a broad range of clients across multiple sectors. Under the supervision of more senior team members, the Level 2 Manager will be responsible for:
Portfolio management and client delivery
• Managing a portfolio of CT clients with delegated responsibility for service delivery, deadlines, and overall quality
• Acting as a primary client contact for day to day matters, maintaining strong, long term client relationships
• Liaising with audit and accounting teams to coordinate work plans, timetables and deliverables
• Proactively managing filing deadlines, data requests and client communications
• Ensuring the timely delivery of signed accounts to the iXBRL team and monitoring downstream compliance processes
• Reviewing and approving corporation tax computations, returns and supporting schedules, escalating issues where appropriate
• Reviewing tax provisions and tax accounting adjustments, ensuring technical accuracy
Technical and advisory responsibilities
• Applying strong technical knowledge to identify risks, planning opportunities and advisory angles
• Assisting with routine to moderately complex advisory assignments (with oversight from senior team members), including:
o Group restructurings and business reorganisations
o Share schemes and employee incentives
o International aspects of UK corporate tax
o Tax efficiency and strategic planning reviews
• Preparing high quality written reports, technical analyses and client facing advice
• Supporting more complex advisory and transactional work led by Directors and Partners
• Assisting with tax due diligence assignments, including review of findings and contribution to reports
Commercial and financial management
• Taking responsibility for WIP management, billing and recoveries for their portfolio
• Monitoring budgets and flagging overruns early
• Contributing to fee discussions and scope management (alongside senior team members where required)
• Maintaining a strong understanding of how tax work contributes to wider client and firm objectives
Special work/ad hoc assignments
The role may also involve supporting on:
• Tender and new business proposals
• Tax due diligence exercises
• Delivering of internal training on corporation tax matters
• Investigation and resolution of technical tax queries
• Supporting advisory projects
People Management
The post-holder will be jointly responsible for managing more junior staff and may have the opportunity to manage some direct reports following successful completion of probation.
The candidate will be responsible for:
• Providing clear feedback, on the job coaching and support to junior team members
• Managing direct reports where appropriate, following successful completion of probation
• Supporting the delivery of internal technical and soft skills training sessions
• Promoting quality, consistency, and best practice across the team

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
• Proven experience in corporation tax gained in practice
• Proven experience managing a client portfolio profitably
• A strong technical understanding of corporation tax principles
• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to explain complex technical issues clearly to non-specialists
• Up-to-date technical knowledge covering a broad range of SME and large-corporate tax matters
• Good commercial awareness, with an understanding of how tax considerations influence wider business decisions
• Demonstrate involvement in tax advisory work including preparation of high-quality written reports (including due diligence)
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise work efficiently, particularly during busy periods
• Commercial mindset, with an understanding of profitability, recoveries and client service.
• ACA/CA/CTA or equivalent
• Good Excel skills
• Experience of Alphatax preferred
• Experience of CCH would also be useful
• Confident use of Microsoft Office tools
• An interest in tax technology, automation and process involvement would be advantageous
