We’re looking for forward-thinking people to come on board and join us within Technical & Compliance, Finance, IT, Training, Human Resources, Business Development/Marketing, Legal, and Administration.

This is a new high-profile role created due to continued business growth. The role will support our largest audit divisions, providing objective advice that positively impacts financial performance through pricing, efficiency, resource allocation or cost management. This role reports to the Senior Divisional Finance Manager with exposure to a number of key stakeholders within Firmwide and Divisional Leadership.

The role includes the preparation of financial plans, targets, budgets and forecasts for the division and reporting on financial and non-financial performance against these whilst also ensuring financial controls and disciplines are maintained.

We are looking for a versatile individual, experienced in business partnering and supporting business decision making, who will juggle the following ongoing responsibilities while actively lead change within the business and actively participate in ad-hoc projects.

Divisional performance and working capital management

  • Reporting on monthly management accounts and adding value through insightful analysis of the results
  • Monitoring and reporting on chargeable hours by individual, team and grade and providing guidance to leadership on emerging trends or individual cases of concern
  • Regular reporting of client WIP and Debtor balances, including highlighting key risk areas requiring leadership’s attention
  • Reporting on billing activity and supporting best practice within the business through general training and targeted interventions
  • Liaison with the Credit Control team where further collection action is required

Budgets, targets and forecast

  • Initial preparation of the division’s annual budget and ongoing management through various layers of internal review
  • Preparation of rolling forecasts for the division at a detailed level for income and staff costs and a higher level for the remaining P&L
  • Supporting partners and managers with budgeting on client engagements, including providing training as required
  • Regular reporting to leadership of partner and directors’ personal KPIs

Financial control

  • Analysis and oversight of the division’s P&L, ensuring that costs are appropriately recognised within the correct period and that all liabilities are appropriately recorded
  • Control and monitoring of the division’s timesheet submissions, including weekly reviews.
  • Ensuring that all data held on the firm’s practice management system is accurate, including client data and team responsibilities.
Person Specification
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA, or equivalent, qualified
  • Previous experience in a finance business partner role, providing insight to support business decision making.

Previous experience in professional services industry preferable but not required

  • A proactive approach and a drive to take responsibility
  • Strong influencing skills with the confidence to challenge management where appropriate
  • Evidence of building and sustaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Professional curiosity, a willingness to embrace new thinking and a desire to constantly learn
  • Data-driven and analytical, with creative problem-solving skills
