Business Services
We are the 2nd largest auditor of AIM listed companies and the 6th largest of all LSE companies with over 130 on either the Main Market or AIM. In the last 5 years we have grown significantly in the listed audit market by focussing on delivering consistent quality and making all our clients feel valued.
The team also work with a number of large, multinational private businesses across many sectors with varying regulatory and reporting requirements, and we have specialist knowledge of a range of industries – from natural resource companies, tech companies, professional practices and retailers.
You could be involved in the audit of any organisation from a listed company to working with owner-managed businesses. Purpose and aim of the role
The Business Solutions team is a growing division, offering room for career progression. The successful candidate will assist the Managers and Staff in providing a high quality service to a wide variety of businesses.
Duties and responsibilities
- Transactions/invoice processing;
- Reconciling bank accounts;
- Reconciling accounts payable and receivable;
- Producing aged debtor and credit listings;
- Preparation and processing of journals;
- Maintaining cash books/nominal ledgers/sales and purchase ledgers;
- Extended trial balance;
- Management accounts packs;
- Preparation of VAT returns, and FCA returns;
- Statutory financial statements preparation;
- Preparing electronic bank payments;
- Use accounting systems such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks. Also Caseware, Silverfin, Dext
- Liaising with auditors and other departments as needed;
- Ability to delegate work to other members of the team and review their work;
- Maintaining relations with clients, liaising to resolve issues on a timely basis
- Meeting clients and working at client’s premises as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- AAT qualified or equivalent
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice firm in a similar role is required
- Proficient in Xero, Sage, Quickbooks and/or other similar accounting packages
- Able to work independently and take initiative
- Strong organisational skills
- Effective time-management skills
- Ability to prioritise workload
